Middle School Astrobiology

Astrobiology is an exciting new interdisciplinary scientific field that unites biology, chemistry, environmental, and physical science in order to understand that conditions that are necessary for life on earth and the possibility for there to be life throught the solar system.

The 2005 Middle School Astrobiology Class

In 2005, the Middle School Astrobiology Institute was organized to give middle school earth and life science teachers a taste for this new field of science and  deepen their content knowledge in science and mathematics.

Teachers who participate in the Astrobiology Institute get experience in the practice of a variety of instructional strategies and ways to assess student understanding of science and mathematics. 

Successful participants in the Astrobiology Insitute recieve graduate credit for their work through the Catholic University of America.

The 2005 and 2006 Astrobiology Institutes are funded in part by the State Education Office Teacher Quality Improvement Program.
