Am I eligible? +
To be eligible for the MfA DC Fellowship, you must:

Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.
-
Have a Bachelor’s degree in math or math related field (ie, applied mathematics, physics, statistics, engineering, computer science) from an accredited college or university conferred by June 2013.

Have completed substantial coursework in mathematics.
-
A minimum of 18 credits in math courses at or above single-variable differential and integral calculus (statistics credits are applicable).
-
A guideline undergraduate GPA is 3.0 on a 4-point scale.

Be new to teaching (ie. not having a teaching license)
-
Achieve a competitive score on the ETS Praxis exams.

Applicants must take two Praxis II Content exams: Mathematics: Content Knowledge (0061) and Mathematics: Proofs, Models, and Problems, Part 1 (0063)
-
Typical Praxis scores for MƒA Fellows range from 150-180 (Mathematics Content Knowledge) and 175-190 (Proofs, Models and Problems)

After acceptance to the program:

Applicants must take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE)

Applicants must take the Praxis I (three part, computer-based test)

Verify your eligibility.

Complete the MfA Fellowship online application. This includes uploading your resume, personal statement, classroom scenario, and mathematics course credits.

Upload an official, unofficial, or student copy of your transcript(s). If selected as finalist, you will be required to provide a sealed, official paper transcript during your interview.

Provide the names and contact information of three reference providers who will complete and submit a recommendation form electronically on your behalf.

Take and submit your scores from two Praxis II Content exams: Mathematics Content Knowledge (0061) and Mathematics Proofs, Models, and Problems, Part 1 (0063)

After your acceptance to the program, take and pass the computer-based Praxis I (PPST) test. This test is administered frequently and must be taken prior to the beginning of the academic program at partner university in June 2013.

Take the GRE prior to the beginning of the academic program at partner university in June 2013. Your score must fall above the 50th percentile in both the quantitative and qualitative sections.
