1.        My favorite mathematician is Sofia Kovalevskaia, a fine mathematician, a revolutionary, a great mathematical communicator.

 

2.       Arlie Pettars at Duke University is perhaps my favorite educator, for his remarkable work in bringing his graduate students and the middle-and-secondary students of his country, Belize, together to do mathematics.  That and much more.

 

3.       My favorite places in DC include the Terrace Theater at the Kennedy Center and Takoma Station jazz club.
