Favorite mathematician: Gauss, because he discovered a useful summation formula to thwart his punishment when he got in trouble in elementary school.
Favorite educator: My calc 3, linear algebra, and differential equations professor. He was a community college professor who didn't know who you were talking to if you called him "Professor." He just loved math and cared about the diverse range of students there are in a community college classroom. He was always way too busy because he frequently set up informal seminars and did independent studies to meet his students' interests, and every semester he tells me he wouldn't have it any other way.
Favorite DC hotspot: The museums, if you're looking for something touristy, because there's so much to learn in them if you go at your own pace and read everything. If you're not looking for something touristy, I love Arlington because it's a little-known gem for Bolivian food and culture, and anyone who's ever been to Bolivia falls in love with the country and the people who live there.
